Patricia June Niese

LEIPSIC – Patricia June Niese, 99, of Leipsic, passed away at 1:05 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Vancrest of Holgate. She was born July 12, 1925, in Continental to the late Kegon and Mary (Miller) Sullivan. On December 29, 1943, she married Vincent "Jim" Niese, who preceded her in death on July 12, 2001.

June, (as most people called her, with some in the earlier years calling her "Junebug"), is survived by two children: John (Mary Jane) Niese and Joan (Mike) Gerschutz, both of Miller City; five grandchildren: Scott (Natalie) Niese, Carrie (Dan) Gable, Julie (Eric) Douglas, Renae (Jay) Okuley and Ross (Kasey) Gerschutz; and ten great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Gavin and Carley Niese, Devin and Cameron Hoellrich, Morgan and Darian Douglas, and Logan, Easton and Emmett Gerschutz.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Jack, at the young age of 10; and a brother and sister-in-law, John (Jane) Sullivan.

In her younger years, she enjoyed the bounty of having a large vegetable garden. In later years, she enjoyed tending to her flower beds, always having the prettiest pink geraniums. She crocheted many Afghans over the years, did ceramics, played her piano and dropped by many garage sales, usually finding something to buy.

A huge thank you to Vancrest of Holgate and their caring staff for the care they showed June, and also to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice, who helped June and her family through those last final days.

Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Miller City. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of mass at St. Mary's Parish Life Center, Leipsic.  Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice or St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic.
