Patrick J. Vorst

COLUMBUS GROVE – Patrick J. Vorst, 63, of Columbus Grove, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Columbus Grove. He was born August 8, 1963, in Lima to the late Elmer and Audrey (Wenzinger) Vorst. On December 3, 1988, he married Julia Heitmeyer, who survives in Columbus Grove.

Pat is also survived by two children: Mackenzie (Collin) Parcher of Haskins and Aaron (Kaitlyn) Vorst of Columbus Grove; three grandchildren: Jameson Vorst “J”, Brantley Vorst “Bubby” and Kane Patrick Parcher; two brothers: Tom (Jeanne) Wenzinger of Ohio, Tim Vorst of North Carolina; and three sisters: Judy (Barry) Bastian of South Carolina, Carol (Randy) Hemker of Kentucky, and Barb (Doug) Sodders of Ohio.

He is preceded in death by two sisters, Susie Vorst and Joyce (Don) Jewers; and a niece, Ali Bastian.

Pat was the owner of Vorst & Son Excavating for 30 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Columbus Grove K of C. Pat loved off-roading and boating with his family at Norris Lake. He enjoyed participating in demolition derbies in his younger years. Pat adored his grandkids and loved spending time with them. He also loved his ice cream. Pat had a passion for farming, which was passed down from his father. His family wants all of those who knew him and loved him to remember him by the incredible example he set through his hard work, unwavering love for his family, and compassion for others. He was a man who gave so much of himself to those around him and was willing to lend a helping hand. His dedication to his community and the people he cared about was evident in all that he did. His kindness, generosity, Catholic faith, strong work ethic, and love for his family will be remembered and cherished forever.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove with Fr. David Ritchie and Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township with a rosary service at 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
