Obituary

Paul W. Bellmann

KALIDA – Paul W. Bellmann, 64, of Kalida died at 7:29 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center. Paul had a strong will to live and there were many supporters that helped him through his illness, and on his final days, he was surrounded by his loving family.  He was born October 29, 1956 in Lima to Bill and Rita (Laudick) Bellmann.  His mother survives in Kalida and his father is deceased.  On June 24, 1978, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Bockrath.  They have been married for 42 years and she survives in Kalida.

He is survived by his two daughters, Christy (Michael) Killion and Courtney (Brian) Heitmeyer, both of Kalida.  He loved them more than life and no matter how old they were, they would always be his little girls.  He is also survived by his heart and joy, 6 grandchildren:  Aiden, Trevor and Trey Killion and Owen, Addelyn and Ella Heitmeyer; 3 brothers:  Tom (Dana) Bellmann, Dan "Red" Bellmann and Ken (Gale) Bellmann, all of Kalida; 2 sisters:  Carolyn (Jeff) Riepenhoff of Miller City and Ann (Alan) Rayle of Kalida; and his in-laws:  Charlie (Becky) Bockrath of Kalida, Paul (Bev) Bockrath of Cincinnati, Don (Billie) Bockrath of Cleveland and Jim (Deb) Bockrath of Kalida.

Paul is also survived by a close circle of friends whom he enjoyed spending time with:  his fishing buddy, Ron Winkle; his hunting buddy, Stan Winkle, his golfing partner, Norm Schnipke and his lifelong and childhood friend, Ken Erhart.

Paul worked construction for 40 years.  There was nothing he couldn't build, fix or repair.  He was always willing to lend a hand to help his friends and family.  In more recent years, he found another job he truly loved, driving truck for Kalida Truck Equipment.  He loved driving and the comradery among his co-workers.  Paul was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and was a member of the Kalida Fish and Game Club.

An avid outdoorsman, Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf.  He was especially fond of taking his grandkids fishing and made sure each one had their own pole.  Throughout the years, he was also a devoted Cleveland Indians fan.  He enjoyed the Browns, Cavaliers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Paul was his grandchildren's number one fan at their sporting events, and he never missed a game.  Paul also enjoyed taking day trips with Joan and was always ready to try a new restaurant, especially for breakfast.

Paul's funeral mass will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Father Mark Hoying officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at church.  The family plans to hold a celebration of life at a later date.  Due to COVID-19 regulations, masks and social distancing are required at church.  The arrangements are by LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County CAPS or to Kalida's Four Seasons Park.  Online condolence may be expressed at www.lovefuneralhome.com.
