Paul T. Mershman
Ottawa – Paul T. Mershman, 90, of Ottawa, died 6:28 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016 at Lima Memorial Health Systems. He was born September 25, 1925 in Ottawa to the late Edward and Mary (Maag) Mershman. On July 24, 1949 he married Lydia Warkentin, who preceded him in death on February 12, 1999.
Paul is survived by his children: Tim (Laurie Agner) Mershman of Ottawa, Don (Chris) Mershman of Topeka, IN, Larry (Dianne) Mershman of Bowling Green and Cheryl (Jim) Brinkman of Ottawa; 9 grandchildren: B. J. Mershman, Jonathon Mershman, Brett Mershman, Brianne Mershman, Megan Mershman, Aaron Mershman, Angie Chamberlin, Jimmy Siefer and Cara Diem; and 3 great-grandchildren: Makayla, Elizabeth and Ryan, with 2 more on the way.
He is preceded in death by a daughter: Chris Wagner and a brother: James "Jim" Mershman.
Paul was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, a 50 year life member of the Ottawa VFW and a 70 year member of the Ottawa American Legion. Paul was the owner/operator of Mershman Body Shop and was a lifelong farmer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion, and Am Vets. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where a VFW and American Legion service will be held at 7pm and a scripture service will be held at 7:50 p.m.
