Phyllis Catherine Etter

DUPONT – Phyllis Catherine Etter, 88, of Dupont, passed away at 9:21 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born March 25, 1938, in Henry County to the late Arthur C. and Florence (Dishong) Keeran. On January 9, 1966, she married Lyle O. Etter, who preceded her in death on July 3, 2013.

Survivors include two children: Brad (Laura) Etter of Van Wert and Shelly (Matt) Neuman of New Knoxville; six grandchildren: Katie (Brian) Beery, Nick (Alicia) Etter, Michael (Kylee) Etter, Allie (Eric) Cook, Hannah (Ryan) Shawler and Nate Neuman; and 4 great-grandchildren: Ava, Clara, Casey and Theo.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two siblings: Edna Gail and Henry “Ben” Keeran.

Phyllis loved spending time with her family and making memories. She always put her family first and loved making them happy. She was a member of Dupont Church. Phyllis enjoyed playing cards, birdwatching and feeding the birds, but especially hated the squirrels that stole the bird seed. She also enjoyed reading and doing puzzles.

Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2026, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Jim States officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
