Phyllis J. Kurtz

OTTAWA - Phyllis J. Kurtz, 87, of Ottawa died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born March 13, 1929 in Brazil, IN to the late Bert and Fronia (Earley) Martin. On February 19, 1950 she married Joseph M. Kurtz who died February 26, 2006.

She is survived by two daughters: Julie (Mark) Perhot of Belleair, FL and Lisa Kindle of Defiance; four grandchildren: Chip Williams, Joe Williams, Ashley Williams, and Elizabeth Perhot; three great-grandchildren: Anthony Cellar, Shay Cellar, and Landon Smith. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Kevin Kindle; a brother; and five sisters.

Phyllis was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity UMC, Ottawa where she was a volunteer. Phyllis also volunteered for the Friends of the Library, American Cancer Society, the Ottawa Food Pantry, and she read to children.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Trinity UMC, Ottawa with Pastor Lynda Lockwood officiating. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity UMC or to Putnam County Home Care and Hospice.
