Rachel Jeanne Wagner
OAKWOOD – Rachel Jeanne Wagner, 60, of Oakwood went home to be with Jesus at 3:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at her residence. She was born May 4, 1951 in Defiance to Charles "Jim" and Emma "Louise" (Schafer) Grimes. They survive in Oakwood. On July 28, 1973 she married Gary Wagner and he survives in Oakwood.
Also surviving is her daughter: Valerie Wagner of Paulding; 3 brothers: Ronald Grimes, of New Castle, IN, David Grimes of Defiance, and Randal (Deb) Grimes of Paulding; and 3 sisters: Marjorie (Jack) Spangler of Jacksonville, FL, Diane Halaska of Tehachapi, CA, and Denise (Larry) Derge of Defiance. She was preceded in death by a brother: Roger Grimes.
Rachel was a LPN for 38 years at Defiance Hospital and ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital. She attended Centenary United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church in Defiance. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and taking care of people in their time of need.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Defiance with Rev. Tim Yazel officiating. Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Samaritans Purse or to the Woodburn, IN Children's Home.
