Ralph L. Wharry

Oakwood – Ralph L. Wharry, 87, of Oakwood, passed away in his home at 5:59 a.m. Sunday, January 14, 2018.  He was born February 14, 1930 in Fenton, MI to the late James and Zelma Opal (Brent) Wharry.  Left behind to love and remember him are his wife Virginia "Ginny" Hulbert of Oakwood who he married October 10, 1964; 5 daughters: Sue Anglin of Novi, MI, Penny Bauer and Peggy Adams both of Defiance, Jane (Rick) Dotson and Ruth Short both of Crossville, TN; 3 sons: Joe (Lynda) Wharry of Ionia, MI, Phillip (Marsha) Wharry of Grover Hill, Ralph Peter Wharry of Oakwood; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter: Nancy Wharry; 3 sons: Johnny, David and Mike Wharry; a sister:  Elle Mae Calendro; and a brother: Orville Wharry.

Ralph was an Army veteran proudly serving in the Korean Conflict from August 1948 to September 1951.  He lived a full life and other than continually loving his family, he was a lifelong farmer and truck driver.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Auglaize Chapel Church of God with Pastor Stan Harmon officiating.  Burial will follow in Mellinger Cemetery, Oakwood.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
