Richard G. Bodenbender
Continental -- Richard G. Bodenbender, 77, of Continental died 12:48 a.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013 at St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center. He was born May 14, 1935 in Mount Pleasant, NY to the late Franklin G. Diamond and Violet (Grimes) Bodenbender. His step-mother, Brandy Diamond, survives in Mahopac, NY. He was formerly married to Jean Hiltner, who preceded him in death; he then married Norma Nickols, who also preceded him in death. On October 28, 2006 he married Angela Deming, who survives in Continental.
Also surviving are his children: Bruce (Rita) Bodenbender of Cecil, Shirley Spain of Spencerville, Linda Kimmel of Cloverdale, Diane (Eric) Lyons of Kalida, Debbie (Sam) Cabral of Florida, Connie (fiance, Tom Wiseman) Humphreys of Defiance, Jonathan Jackman of Defiance, Justin Jackman of Defiance, Emmalee Jackman of Continental and Taylor Jackman of Paulding; son-in-law: Mark Frankart of Continental; special friend: Mark Kimmel of Oakwood; 3 brothers: Darwin (Sharon) Bodenbender of Salem, OR, Jerry (Linda) Bodenbender of Ayersville; and Tom Diamond of Mahopac, NY; 4 sisters: Louise (Sal) Bertolino, Diane Boenau, Linda Delvescovi, and Brenda Diamond, all of Mahopac, NY; 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter: Brenda Frankart and a grandchild.
Richard was a STNA for the Laurels of Defiance and a member of the Free Christian Church of God, Continental. He retired from Philips Display Components after 43 years of service and had been the former Chief of Police for Continental for 12 years. Richard loved his family and enjoyed barbequing for others, and fishing for walleye.
The funeral service for Richard will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Free Christian Church of God, Continental. Rev. James Fry will officiate. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME,Continental and Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at Free Christian Church of God, Continental.
