Richard D. Knapp
FINDLAY- Richard D. Knapp, 78, of Findlay, formerly of Ottawa died at 4:02 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was born December 21, 1935 in Napoleon to the late Richard and Mildred (Franz) Knapp. On March 16, 1957 he married Frances Sylvia who survives in Findlay.
Also surviving are 2 children: Richard Knapp of Hale, MI and Melody (Albert) Schnipke of Ottawa; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a half-brother: Russell (Jeanie) Riggs of Vaughnsville; and a half-sister: Jane (Gary) Jewell of Memphis, TN.
Richard was a postal carrier who retired in 1995 from the Ottawa Post Office. He was a veteran of the US Navy, Marine Corp, and  Army. He was a life member of both the Ottawa American Legion post# 63 and VFW, and a member of the DAV and AMVETS of Findlay.
A Memorial Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. There will be a military service by the Ottawa American Legion, VFW, and AMVETS following the mass at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. Visitation will be after church from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society or to the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Home.
