Richard F. Kohorst

OAKWOOD - Richard F. Kohorst, 79, of Oakwood, died 7:30 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2022 at his residence. He was born June 2, 1942 in Van Wert to Richard H. and Florence (Baer) Kohorst. On December 23, 1961 he married, Glenda Schilt.  She survives in Oakwood.

Richard is also survived by three children: Richard G. Kohorst, Arlene Dirr and Darlene (Ron) Vorlicky all of Oakwood; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers: Delmer Kohorst, Carl (Dorothy) Kohorst, both of Florida and Daryl Kohorst of Delphos; and three sisters: Edith Carder, Judy (Jim) Hammons and Becky Mericle, all of Delphos.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hillary Dirr; a great-granddaughter, Kyndall Wagner; a sister-in-law, Sue Kohorst; two brothers-in-law: Tom Carder and Tim Mericle.

Richard was an electrician at Weatherhead Division-Dana Antwerp. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of the Oakwood American Legion.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Michael Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood with military rites by Paulding VFW. Visitation will be held from 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022 and again on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
