Richard S. Palte
Columbus Grove – Richard S. Palte, 84, of Columbus Grove died 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. He was born May 2, 1928 in Columbus Grove to the late Joseph and Frances (Schroeder) Palte. On May 28, 1960, he married Bridget Delia Rush, who died September 10, 2012.
Richard is survived by three children: Bob (Janet) Palte of Westfield Center, Bernadette (Jeff) Moratt of Hilliard and Frances (Doug) Spencer of Waynesfield and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Richard and Thomas Palte; two sisters: Mary Roehm and Margaret Youngpeter, and four brothers: Lawrence, Ignatius, Bernard and Robert Palte.
Richard retired from Ford Motor Company in Lima. He was an Navy veteran serving during WWII and Korean War. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, member of Knights of Columbus in Findlay, where he was a 4th Degree, and member of Columbus Grove American Legion and VFW and the Fraternal Order Orioles in Lima.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2012 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus Grove with Fr. Tom Extejt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside by the Columbus Grove American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will be at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St.Anthony's Centennial Fund or Putnam County Hospice.
