Richard A. Slattman

CONTINENTAL – Richard A. Slattman, 74, of Continental, passed away at 7:44 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Medical Center, Findlay.  He was born August 17, 1949, in Lima to the late Augustus and Lois (Tracy) Slattman.  On May 12, 1989, he married Brenda Long, who survives in Continental.

Other survivors include five children: Troy (Stephanie) Slattman of Napoleon, Tracy (Dennis) Potts, Tabby (Dean) Williamson, Sarah (Patrick) Llewellyn and David (Kelee) Slattman, all of Continental; twelve grandchildren: Taylor (Spencer), Trevor (Brooke), Hunter, Christopher, Gavin (Bree), Madelyn, Brayden, Elias, Elijah, Evie, Gus and Emelynn; two great-grandchildren: Lincoln and Zane; three siblings: Dave (Joanna) Slattman of Continental, Pam (Jimmy Helland) Sigler of Defiance and Sally (Mike) Guilford of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law, Judy Slattman of North Creek.

He was also preceded in death by two siblings: Gary Slattman and Ida Ankney.

Richard was a retired truck driver and lifelong farmer.  He was also a partner in the former Lucky Lanes & Lounge Bowling Alley in Continental. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Continental.  He enjoyed softball, golf and bowling. Richard loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2024 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Wade Tannehill officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Continental Fire Department.
