Rita A. Brinkman
OTTOVILLE - Rita A. Brinkman, 78, of Ottoville, died 11:59 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born December 22, 1942 in Ottoville to the late Cornelius and Barbara (Heitmeyer) Brinkman.
Survivors include six siblings: Ruthie Rosengarten, Annie Meyer, both of Glandorf, Teresa Friemoth of Idyllwild, CA, Julie (Jorge) Rivas of Chile, Bob (Judy) Brinkman and Tom (Barb) Brinkman, both of Ottoville; and a brother-in-law, Mike Swint of Ottoville.
Rita was preceded in death by a sister, Aggie Swint; and three brothers-in-law: Jack Rosengarten, Kennie Meyer and John Friemoth.
Rita retired from her career in education after 30 years. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in Education at the University of Dayton and her Master's in Curriculum & Supervision, Elementary Principal's Certification and Post Graduate Work at Wright State University. She dedicated her life to education as she served as a teacher from 1965 to 1977 for Sts. Peter and Paul, Norwood, Resurrection Catholic School, Dayton and Residence Park Elementary, Dayton. She then served from 1982 to 1983 as Curriculum Coordinator for Carlson Foreign Language Magnet, Dayton. From 1983 on, she became Elementary Principal for Precious Blood School, Dayton, St. Peter School, Huber Heights, Graham North Elementary, Graham and Bradford Elementary School, Bradford.
Rita was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, ASCD, Phi Delta Kappa, University of Dayton Chapter and Ohio Association of Elementary School Principals. She enjoyed golfing, traveling and volunteering. She was loved by many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Meadows of Kalida and Dr. Jacinta Eickholt for the wonderful loving care given to our sister during her stay.
Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Fr. Jerome Schetter and Father Gene Vonderhaar officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. with a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. and also visitation on Friday one hour prior to Mass at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township. Due to Covid, the family has requested visitors to keep within social distancing guidelines. Masks are encouraged.
