Rita Jane Hermiller

Miller City -- Rita Jane Hermiller, 78, of Miller City, died 11:34 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born July 30, 1937 in New Cleveland, to the late Phillip and Esther (Kuhlman) Lammers. On April 26, 1958 she married William Hermiller who survives in Miller City.

She is survived by five children: Dean (Sharon) Hermiller, Daniel (Susan) Hermiller both of Miller City, Linda (Charles) Schroeder, Lois (Todd) Riffle  both of Glandorf, Jeff (Michelle) Hermiller of Miller City; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, four siblings: Melvin (Mary Ann) Lammers of Glandorf, Rose Mary Rieman of Ottawa, Helen (Jim) Gerding of Kalida, Gerald (Ginger) Lammers of Leipsic; a sister-in-law: Esther Lammers of Leipsic, and a brother-in-law Doug (Shirley) Aukerman of Findlay.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Leon and Elmer Lammers; one sister: Alice Aukerman; and a brother-in-law: Rudolph Rieman.

Rita was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City, where she was a past lay distributor and a member of the parish Rosary Altar. She was also a member of the New Cleveland Catholic Ladies of Columbia and was a volunteer at the former Putnam Acres and Calvary Manor Nursing Homes. She retired after 17 years from the Campbell's Soup Factory in Napoleon. Rita was also a member of the Miller City Fire Ladies Auxiliary, Leipsic Eagle's Auxiliary, Miller City Sportsman Club, and a 300 Club member. She was an avid Bingo player, enjoyed gambling, playing cards, crocheting, and loved to attend her grandchildren's sporting events.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City, with Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday as well as an hour before mass, all at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
