Rita Carolina (Pohl) Croy

Fort Jennings -- Rita Carolina (Pohl) Croy, 77, of Fort Jennings, died 4:10 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Meadows of Kalida.  She was born March 27, 1938 in Ottoville to the late Bernard and Martha (Hilvers) Pohl.  On June 28, 1974 she married David A. Croy, who survives.

Rita was blessed with an exceptional daughter, Stephanie (Eric) Braun of Celina and a step-son: Scott Croy Thomas (Tamara) of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren:  Conner, Samantha and Gabriella Braun and 2 step-grandchildren:  Adam and Katie Thomas; a brother:  Richard (Dorothy) Pohl of Cairo; and a sister:  Edna (Ronald) Haselman of Leipsic.

She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers: Donald Pohl and Ralph Pohl and a sister Dolores Pohl.

Rita was a 1955 graduate of Precious Blood High School, Dayton.  In 1966 she received her bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton and in 1973 she received her master's degree in Elementary Administration from Xavier University.  Rita spent 36 years in the classroom, and 12 years subbing.  She and her husband operated D & R Lock and Key Service.  She also helped operate with her husband Croy's Hardware and Variety in Cloverdale form 1985 to 1997 and Grover Hill from 1995 to 1997.  She loved to crochet, quilt and spend time with her grandchildren and step-grandchildren and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Father Mark Hoying officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where a scripture service will be held at 7 p.m.
