Rita M. Steffan

OTTAWA - Rita M. Steffan, 96, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully at 2:37 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Ohio Living Sarah Moore, Delaware.  She was born December 25, 1924 in Miller City to the late Arthur and Elnora (Noirot) Winnow.  On June 17, 1948, she married Norbert L. Steffan by Reverend P.A. Pieffer in New Bavaria Catholic Church. Norbert preceded her in death on February 27, 2015.

Rita is survived by three children:  Kenneth Steffan of Big Pine Key, FL, Nancy Steffan of Springville, UT and Greg (Karen) Steffan of Delaware.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Marie Rothman and Pauline (Ray) Trietch.

Rita was a graduate of Miller City High School. She was a member of the New Bavaria Catholic Church, New Bavaria where she loved to sing. She was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  She worked before marriage at Westinghouse, Lima as well as Industrial Canvas and Capital Loan, both in Delaware.  Rita enjoyed reading, music, singing and dancing.

Funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Rick Friebel officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic.  Visitation will be Sunday 2-6 p.m. and again on Monday one hour prior to mass at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
