Robert “Bob” Dobbelaere

July 28, 1932 - April 28, 2026

CAMDEN, MI - Robert “Bob” Dobbelaere, 93, of Camden, MI went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Bob was born on July 28, 1932 to the late Julius and Marie (Vynckier) Dobbelaere in Haskins, OH and was raised on the family farm near Melrose, OH. On August 14, 1993, he married Constance “Connie” Sheely Roughton of Defiance, OH who survives in Camden, MI.

Bob is also survived by his children: Steven Dobbelaere, North Branch, MI, Chris Marie Farr, Raleigh, NC and Kevin (Tammy) Dobbelaere, Marlette, MI;; grandchildren: Jason, Jared and Nolan Dobbelaere; Kara Watkins; John David, Robert and William Farr; Chase (Jasmine) Dobbelaere and Kylee Dobbelaere; great-grandchildren: Seth II, Mason (Carissa), Kameron (Jordan), Kodyn, Jayce, and Kayman Dobbelaere, Kylee and Koltyn Measel and Luke Dobbelaere; great-great grandchild: Weston Dobbelaere; bonus stepchildren: Peggy Roughton, Dan Roughton, Doug (Wendy) Roughton, and Karen (Brian) Rider; step-grandchildren: Janalee (Matt) Hiltner, Hillary Daniels, Danielle Roughton, Alexandra (Chance) Sprunger, Dale Rider; and 7 step-great-grandchildren; sister: Doris Richman, Wolcottville, IN. Also surviving are special loved ones: Deb Czarnecki, Deb Coulter, Brad Rubin, JD Taylor, Deb Murphy, and Bobbie Murphy.

Bob was preceded in death by his son, Robert C. Dobbelaere; grandson, Seth R. Dobbelaere; siblings: George, Gerard, Morris, Paul, Henry and Mary Louise Dobbelaere; and stepson, Norm Roughton.

Bob was a proud farmer and a factory foreman, retiring from RC Plastics in Hillsdale in 1997. He and Connie lived out their retirement years on Merry Lake, relaxing and enjoying family and friends. Bob loved farming, boating, skiing, and being a pilot. He enjoyed going to tractor shows, auctions, and air shows with his children. Bob was a true family man and was happiest when all the family was together either working or celebrating birthdays, holidays and summer on the lake. He attended church his entire life and was most recently a member of the Pioneer Community Church.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2026 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, 610 Walnut St., Oakwood, OH, Paulding County. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Porter officiating. A luncheon will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Melrose Community Church, 712 State St., Melrose, OH 45861, then interment following lunch at Middle Creek Cemetery, 19367 Rd 24, Grover Hill, OH 45849 (between the church and Mausoleum). There will be no procession.
