Robert Eugene Shade

HAMLER -- Robert "Bob" Shade, 80, of Hamler, Ohio passed away peacefully on October 21, 2017 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio after a long struggle with vascular dementia.

Born in Attica, Ohio, to William H. Shade, Jr. and Pearl (Deveny) Shade, he spent most of his life in Hamler, Ohio.

Bob was a Veteran of the United States Army, and he retired from Clevite Inc. in Napoleon, Ohio where he worked for over 30 years.

Bob was devoted to his family and was an excellent provider. He enjoyed such activities as family time with the grandkids, woodworking, driving in the country, fishing, and snowmobiling in Hayward, Wisconsin. Likewise, he loved his dogs, Mytzee and Stormy.

Bob is survived by his wife of 29 years: Betty "Liz" (Alt) Shade, two sons:  Woodie A. Shade, and Kirk D. (Eileen) Shade, both of Lambertville, MI;  stepchildren:  Lisa (Peckinpaugh) Boes, Ron (Sharon) Peckinpaugh of Pemberville, OH,  E.J. (Rebecca) Peckinpaugh of Napoleon, OH, Rhonda (Peckinpaugh) (Todd) Rosebrock of Mansfield, GA, Sondra (Peckinpaugh) Garbers of Delta, OH; sister: L. Jean (Shade) McLaughlin of Bryan, OH; and 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William ('78) and Pearl ('60); brothers, George ('93) and Richard ('07); sister Linda ('02), first wife Beverly J. (Spencer) Shade ('87); and daughter Deana L. Shade ('88).

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, October 25, 2017  from 2pm to 7pm followed by a prayer service at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Deacon Jim Schortgen officiating.  Bob will be laid to rest at a later date in a private ceremony at Marion Township Cemetery, Hamler.
