Robert L. "Bob" Shartzer

OTTAWA – Robert L. "Bob" Shartzer, 68 of Ottawa, passed away at 2:13 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at his residence.  He was born July 20, 1956, in Lima, to Charles "Bill" and Shirley (Klinger) Shartzer, his father is deceased, and his mother survives in Ottawa.  On October 3, 1998, he married Jean Sanchez; she also precedes him in death.

He is survived by two children:  BJ Shartzer of Ft. Jennings and Kelly (Derek) Jordan of Harrod; six grandchildren: Cheyenne, Wade, Braeden, Rylie, Avery and Drew; his girlfriend: Marilyn Selhorst of Ottawa; two sisters:  Tami (Steve Kuhlman) Ortega of Ottawa, and Sue (Bill) Claye of Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob retired from GM, Defiance after 17 years.  He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything.  Bob was a member of the Leipsic Fishing and Hunting Club and the Ottawa Eagles.  He enjoyed tinkering in his shed, having beers with friends in his shed, fishing trips and playing cards.  He especially loved spending time with his family having cookouts and watching his grandkids fish and swim in his pond.  Bob will be terribly missed by so many.  The family of Bob would like to thank Putnam County Hospice for their kindness and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Leipsic Fishing and Hunting Club.  Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
