Robert V. Dietsch

LEIPSIC – Robert V. Dietsch, 80, of Leipsic, died at 9:26 p.m. on Tuesday,  April 20, 2021 at the Findlay Hospice Center.  He was born on December 31, 1940 in Holgate to the late Victor and Renata (Blankin) Dietsch.  In 1973, Robert married Ruth Spitnale. They later divorced in 1980.

Survivors include 3 children: Lisa (John) Rodriguez, Lori (Dale) Schroeder, both of Leipsic and Lynn (Mike) Hovest of Gilboa; 9 grandchildren: Brooke (Bryant Butler) Rodriguez, Summer (Ryan Burwell) Rodriguez, Madyson Rodriguez, Brittani (Trevor) Schroeder, Branden (Kelly) Wentworth, Levin (Delaney) Hovest, Reed (Faith) Hovest, Presley (Jacob) Merz, Shana (Gavin Cupp) Hovest; 3 Step-grandchildren: Nick, Jake, and Bailey Schroeder; 4 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; and a brother: Lee (Diane) Dietsch of Hamler.

Robert was preceded in death by his 2 sisters: Atalie Hornstraw and Carol Beck.

In 1965, Robert opened Dietsch Brother's Garage with his brother, Lee. In 1969, he joined the Volunteer Leipsic Fire Department. In 1981, he became Chief of the Leipsic Fire Department.  He also worked at SCM Allied Egry and Bill Jones Garage. Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from the maintenance department from the McComb School District. Robert loved to go out to eat every Saturday night, enjoyed driving his Cushman motorcycle and loved spending time with all of his grandkids.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Tim Eding officiating.  Burial will be in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic with military services by the Leipsic VFW and American Legion.  In keeping with the social distancing guidelines, a visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic. Due to regulations regarding COVID-19, masks are required upon entering the funeral home
