Robert "Rob" Henry Trenkamp

OTTOVILLE – Robert "Rob" Henry Trenkamp, 57, of Ottoville went to his heavenly home at 1:53 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Cleveland Clinic.  His fight with radiation heart disease, which he battled for more than 20 years from the cancer he had as a teenager is over.  He was born May 29, 1965, in Lima to Robert J. and Helen M. (Webken) Trenkamp.  His mother is deceased and his father survives in Ottoville.  On November 28, 1992, he married the love of his life, Rochelle "Shelley" (Selhorst) Dobner, who survives in Ottoville.

Also surviving are 3 children:  Danielle Trese (Ryan) Mangas of Leipsic, Dustin Robert (Lindsay Schweller) Trenkamp and Dana Rochelle Trenkamp, both at home; a brother:  Jeffrey A. Trenkamp of Ottoville; and 3 sisters: Lisa (Eric) Kaufman of Mount Vernon, Lynn Trenkamp of Ottoville, and Lesley (Wes) Tabler of Louisville; father-in-law:  Eugene L. Selhorst; brothers-in-law:  Urban J. Selhorst, Joseph (Jane) Selhorst, and Nicholas (Connie) Selhorst; a sister-in-law: Melinda (John) Landin; and nieces and nephews:  Alysia (Elliott) Smallwood, Laura Kaufman, Michael (Alyson) Kaufman, Rachel Kaufman, Erik (Amy) Selhorst, Lauryn (Cameron) Remlinger, Brandon (Sarah) Selhorst, Bryce Selhorst, Kyle (Tiffany) Landin and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Rob was preceded in death by his mother-in-law:  Norma J. "Poodle" Selhorst; nephew:  Marcus Landin; grandparents:  Joseph and Martha Webken and Henry and Marcella Trenkamp; and life-long friend:  Dan Vorst.

Rob was a truck driver and owner of J & R Trucking for 30 years, though if you ask him what he did for a living, he would tell you he was a "steering wheel holder."  He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville.  Rob was a 1983 graduate of Ottoville High School and a 1985 graduate of Columbus State Community College where he obtained a degree in Aviation Maintenance.

Rob loved life on earth and fought long and hard to stay.  He lived longer than he ever thought he would with his radiation heart disease.  He was grateful for being able to raise his 3 kids and was so excited with his upcoming promotion to "Grandpa" with Danielle and Ryan expecting their first baby.  Rob also really enjoyed relaxing under "Old Hickory" and all the time spent with his family at Grand Lake St. Marys.

Rob's family is very grateful to the late Dr. Patrick Whitlow, the late Dr. David Taylor, and so many others at the Cleveland Clinic for the many years of continued care that resulted in many additional years with Rob.  Always remember that Rob is a far greater part of our future than our past.  See you on the other side!

The funeral mass will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Father George Mahas officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Kalida.  Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 6th, 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 7th and again 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 8th, all at the LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.  There will be a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. Friday afternoon at the funeral home.
