Robert H. Meyer

FORT JENNINGS - Robert H. Meyer, 78, of Fort Jennings, died at 6:15 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at The Meadows of Kalida.

He was born on June 25, 1937 in Columbus Grove to the late Alfred B. and Frances E. (Niese) Meyer.  On February 4, 1961, he married Carol J. Bockrath, who survives in Fort Jennings.

Survivors also include 5 children: Barbara Schnipke of Ottoville, Kenneth (Brenda) Meyer of Lima, Denise (Ricky) Plummer of Paulding, Cheryl (Douglas) Sickels of Fort Jennings, and Elaine (Todd) Miller of Ottoville; 9 brothers and sisters: John (Joan) Meyer of Findlay, Marie (John) Hoorman of Ottawa, Norman (Janet) Meyer of Ottawa, James (Rita) Meyer of Leipsic, Richard (Sharon) Meyer of Ottoville, William (Kate) Meyer of Arcadia, Elmer (Sharon) Meyer of Glandorf, Frank Meyer of Glandorf, and Alice (David) Maas of Ottawa; a sister-in-law: Pat Meyer of Norwalk; 16 grandchildren: Adam (Renee), Joseph (Devin), Jason, and Kevin Schnipke, Dustin and Brandon Meyer, Kurt (Sarah) and Derek Plummer, Ashley (Mitchell) Maibach, Kegan, Colin, and Logan Sickels, Kelsey, Trent, Makayla, and Nolan Miller; 4 great-grandchildren: Austin and Rylee Schnipke, Emerson Maibach, and Katelyn Plummer.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: Nathan Plummer; and a brother: Thomas Meyer.

Robert retired from General Motors in Defiance and was an Air Force Veteran.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic, Fort Jennings where he was a former Eucharistic Minister and Usher.  He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Findlay and also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Kalida. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and gardening.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings with Fr. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Fort Jennings American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. There will be a K of C rosary on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
