Robert Jacques Wollam
Continental - Robert Jacques Wollam, 87, of Continental, died 5:55 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Defiance Regional Hospital, Defiance. He was born October 12, 1925 in Dupont to the late Lester Isreal and Erma (Frinfrock) Wollam. On December 5, 1947, he married Patricia Osburn, who survives in Continental. They worked together at the Ag Center all their married life.
He is survived also by his children: a daughter, Roberta L. (Rodney) Homer of Wheelersburg, Ohio; a son, Lester J. (Denise ) Wollam of Continental; 3 granddaughters: Emily Thoman of Lima, Dena M. (Brian) Troyer and Melissa (Rod) Schwarzman both of Continental; a grandson: Robert J. (Lindsey) Wollam of Holland, Michigan; 3 great-grandsons: Cooper J. Wollam, Remington A. Wollam and Carter O. Troyer; a great-granddaughter: Emerson J. Wollam; a sister-in-law: Deborah (Gary) Molenaar of Charloe and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob is preceded in death by a stillborn great-grandson, Oliver Troyer and a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Lester Grant.
Robert was a graduated of Continental High School Class of 1943. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving approximately 3 1/2 years. He loved his God and his Country. He was President of Wollam Ag Center Inc. in Continental, a business his father founded in 1927. He began driving Wollam's trucks at age 13 and never had an accident to the day he stopped driving. This was mentioned "many times" by him. Bob was a member of the Continental Volunteer Fire Dept. for 37 years, where he was Chief for nine years and an EMT for 6 years. He was also a member of Continental American Legion. Bob was a member of the former Continental Free Methodist Church and was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Later when spending winters in Florida he was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Bradenton, Florida and attended The Dupont Church of the Brethren, in Ohio.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Dupont Church of the Brethren with Pastor Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental, with military gravesite by Continental American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.
