Roger Barlage
LEIPSIC – Roger Barlage, 76, of Leipsic died 9:34 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2026, at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born February 19, 1950, in Lima to the late Albert “Ham” and Mary Margaret (Spangler) Barlage. On August 7, 1976, he married Susan Rice and she survives in Leipsic.
Other survivors include three children: Joseph Barlage, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Beckner, and Ryan (Jennifer) Barlage all of Leipsic; nine grandchildren: Emma (Joey) Clark, Ethan Barlage, Madelyn Barlage, Alexa Barlage, Camille Beckner, Isabella Beckner, Teagan Barlage, Isaac Barlage and Oliver Barlage; grand pup, Gordy; and siblings: Nancy (Ray) Pihlaja of Washington, MI, Peg (Larry) Gerschutz and Marcia Hovest both of Leipsic, Cindy (Frank) Becker of Toledo, Tim Barlage of Miller City and Ann (Jerry) Turnwald of Ft. Jennings.
He was also preceded in death by a grand pup, Mickey, and brother-in-law, John Hovest.
Roger was an Industrial Arts teacher at Ottawa-Glandorf High School for 32 years from 1972 until his retirement in 2004. He was a US Air Force Veteran from 1974 to 1978. Roger was a 1968 graduate of Miller City High School and attended Bowling Green State University obtaining his master’s degree. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City, Miller City Volunteer Fire Department, Miller City Town Council, Miller City Sportsman’s Club, Ottawa VFW, and Ottawa American Legion. Roger loved family time, farming and golfing.
Funeral mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rights by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion, AMVETS and DAV. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with a service at 7:00 p.m. by the Miller City Fire Department and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
