Roland J. Burkhart

PANDORA – Roland J. Burkhart, 84 of Pandora, died at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Liberty Retirement Community, Lima.  He was born October 10, 1938 in Bluffton to the late Ralph Roland and Frieda (Furrer) Burkhart.  On November 15, 1960, he married Julienne Shafer.  She died on January 15, 2005.

Survivors include three children: John Michael Burkhart of AZ, James Paul (Lisa) Burkhart  and Joseph Lynn Burkhart, both of Ottawa; one grandchild, Darren Scott Burkhart of Ottoville; and two brothers: Frederick Lee Burkhart of Greenville, TN and David Brent Burkhart of Alger.

Roland worked for Whirlpool, Findlay and was also a sheep shearer. He was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora. He enjoyed, camping, watching races at Eldora Speedway and going to swap meets and flea markets.  Roland loved his dogs.

A funeral service for Roland will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora with Pastor Matthew Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6- 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and 10 – 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Putnam County Special Olympics.
