Ronald W. Foppe
Kalida -- Ronald W. Foppe, 72, of Kalida died 3:21 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Lima Memorial Health Systems from complications related to open heart surgery. He was born September 25, 1942 in Kalida to the late Gregory and Laura (Verhoff) Foppe. Forty-nine years ago, on July 31, 1965 he married Ruth L. Horstman, who survives in Kalida.
He is also survived by his children: Jeff (Sharon) Foppe of Kettering, Daniel (Michelle) Foppe and Dean (Lana) Foppe, both of Glandorf, Nancy (Jeff) Benroth of Pandora, Mary (Roger) Siefker of Kalida, Debra (John) Stoiber of Frankfort, IL, Robert (Janice) Foppe of Kalida and Jennifer (Greg) Schroeder of Findlay; 30 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Eugene Foppe and James (Ruth) Foppe, both of Kalida; 2 sisters: Marilyn Miller of Ottoville and Irma (Dick) Hoffman of Kalida; and a brother-in-law: Alfred Kaufman of Glandorf.
Ron is preceded in death by a daughter: Sarah Foppe; grandson: Cole Foppe; granddaughter: Amber Foppe; sister: Joan Kaufman; 3 sisters-in-law: Theresa Foppe, Helen Renner and Pat Rode; and a brother-in-law: John Miller.
Ron was a retired dairy farmer and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida, and its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Holy Name Choir and an usher. He was a member of the Army National Guard. He loved playing his guitar and singing with the Country Gentleman Band. He enjoyed his memberships with the VFW and Eagles, both in Ottawa, the Kalida Fish and Game, Farm Bureau, Farmers Union, Am Vets
and the Kalida Knights of Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Father Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where a Holy Name rosary service will be held 7 p.m. Monday evening.
