Ronald F. Fulkert
Ypsilanti, MI / Miller City, OH -- Ronald F. Fulkert, 67, of Ypsilanti, MI formerly of Miller City, OH, died 3:33 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the University of Michigan Hospital. He was born June 16, 1948 in Toledo to the late James E. and Hildred (Williamson) Fulkert Sr. On August 2, 1975 he married Marjorie Verhoff who survives in Ypsilanti, MI.
He is survived by four children: Kristopher Fulkert of "Ypsilanti, MI", Karl (Sarah) Fulkert of Dublin, OH, Kathryn Fulkert of San Francisco, CA, Kevin Fulkert of Ypsilanti, MI; one sister: Karla (Kernie) Hall of Petersburg, MI; and two grandchildren: Jack Fulkert and Grace Fulkert. He was preceded in death by a sister: Gail Frye and a brother: James Fulkert Jr.
Ronald was a Business Education Professor at Eastern Michigan University since 1997. While there he was a member of the Michigan Business Education Association (MBEA) who awarded him 2006 Post Secondary Business Teacher of the Year and was also awarded 2006 Teaching Excellence Award by EMU. Ronald graduated from Roy C. Start High School, Toledo and then received his Bachelors Degree in Education from The University of Toledo in 1975. He then went on to be a business teacher at St. John's in Toledo, Ottoville Schools and Kalida Schools before entering into sales. Then he decided to continue his education receiving a Masters from Bowling Green State University in 1992 and then his Doctorate of Philosophy from The University of Toledo in 1997. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Miller City Legion Post #0172. Ronald was an Ohio State Buckeye fan. He enjoyed golfing, Corvettes, the Detroit Tigers, the Beatles, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family around the pool and being with his dog, Ringo. As Ronald would always say, "I'll see ya when I see ya."
Mass of Christian Burial will begin 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in St. Isadore Cemetery, Cuba with military rites by the Miller City American Legion, Ottawa American Legion and VFW, and AM VETS. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and then from 10 a.m. until departure for mass, all at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
