Ronald R. Grote
CLOVERDALE - Ronald R. Grote, 73, of Cloverdale died at 3:25 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert following a 2 year battle with Leukemia. He was born April 20, 1939 in Cloverdale to Melvin and Thelma (Bracker) Grote. His father is deceased, his mother survives in Cloverdale. On March 3, 1962 he married Marilyn Grubenhoff who survives in Cloverdale.
Also surviving is a daughter: Linda (Stewart Mills) Grote of Van Wert; a brother: Jim Grote of Cloverdale; a sister: Judy (Robert) Brinkman of Cloverdale; and his special little buddies: Sassy and Boo.
Ron worked 14 years in maintenance for the Village of Ottoville, drove truck for J.P. Trucking for 10 years, worked as a mechanic for Mack Garage, drove truck for River Valley Distributing in Defiance for 25 years, and a was a  farmer in partnership with B.B. and G. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Ron loved flowers, working in the yard, riding 4-Wheelers, and NASCAR.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where there will be a scripture service at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
