Ronald T. Hoyt

OTTAWA – Ronald T. Hoyt, 88, of Ottawa, died 6:14 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  He was born March 17, 1934 in Miller City to the late Norman and Bertha (Lammers) Hoyt.  On October 21, 1967, he married Lois Mae Carpenter.  She preceded him in death on December 14, 2014.

Survivors include four children: Lynn (Donna) Hoyt of Leipsic, Greg (Deb) Hoyt of Ottawa, Melissa (Shane) Ellerbrock of Leipsic and Kendra (Scott) Kuhlman of Ottawa; eight grandchildren: Kayla (Nick) Settlemire, Zachary Hoyt, Jerrod (Nicole) Cass, Alisha Hoyt, Breanna Ellerbrock, Caleb Ellerbrock, Will Kuhlman and Aiden Kuhlman; four great-grandchildren: Xavier, Isaac, Aurora and Aspen; two siblings: Ruth Schroeder of Sarasota, FL and James (Cathy) Hoyt of Great Cacapon, WV; and a sister-in-law, Edna Hoyt of Ottawa.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Hoyt; a sister-in-law, Patricia Hoyt; and a brother-in-law, Gene Schroeder.

Ronald retired in 1994 from Philips Display Components, Ottawa and after retirement had worked for the Village of Ottawa. He was a 1952 graduate of Glandorf High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army during peacetime.  Ronald was a member of  Ottawa Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Glandorf Rod and Gun Club, Ottawa Eagles and Ottawa American Legion. Ronald loved socializing with friends and family at the shop, having Tuesday morning coffee with friends, playing euchre, following NASCAR, watching Ottawa-Glandorf basketball, fishing, gardening, snow skiing, and camping at the Maumee River. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Funeral Mass will begin 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2022 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Ottawa VFW, Ottawa American Legion, AMVETS and DAV. Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. Sunday, where a scripture service will be held at 7:50 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and one hour prior to the mass Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa or Ottawa-Glandorf Athletic Boosters.
