Ronald J. "Ron" Verhoff

NORTH CREEK – Ronald J. "Ron" Verhoff, 72, of North Creek, passed away at 11:50 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  He was born August 13, 1950, in Lima to the late Isadore and Mildred (Selhorst) Verhoff.  On September 26, 1970, he married Joyce Lammers, who survives in North Creek.

Ron is also survived by five children: Jeff (Angela) Verhoff of Kankakee, IL., Lori (Dennis) Sheets of Continental, Joshua (Shanda) Verhoff of Archbold, Gina (Mark) Schnipke of Miller City, and John (Abby) Verhoff of New Cleveland; eighteen grandchildren; two sisters: Nancy (Richard) Karhoff of Continental and Carolyn (John) Gilgenbach of New Bavaria; and a brother: Larry (Janet) Verhoff of Continental.

He is preceded in death by a brother, John Albert Verhoff.

Ron retired from General Motors in 2003 after 35 years.  He was also a full-time farmer.  Ron was member of the Ottawa K of C where he was a 4th degree Knight, and a former Grand Knight.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Continental, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector.  He was also a member of the UAW Local 211.  Ron worked with Habitat for Humanity and made stained glass crosses for each homeowner.   Ron loved the outdoors, maintaining his yard, growing flowers, and camping with family and friends.  He enjoyed making stained glass. Ron had been the caretaker for St. Joseph Cemetery, North Creek. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Continental with Fr. Nathan Bockrath officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Creek.  A visitation will be held on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with a K of C Rosary and 4th Degree Guard beginning at 7:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
