Ronald W. Schroeder

LEIPSIC - Ronald W. Schroeder, 79, of Leipsic, died 11:30 a.m., Sunday, October 2, 2016 at his residence.  He was born November 7, 1936 to the late August and Elenora (Smith) Schroeder.  On June 25, 1960, he married Edith E. Geckle and she survives in Leipsic.

Also surviving are seven children: Kevin (Jackie) Schroeder of Leipsic, Martin (Jodi) Schroeder of Ottawa, Elaine (Tony) Whaley of Leipsic, Larry (Tammy) Schroeder of Leipsic, Deborah (Tim) Schnipke of Kalida, Scott (Mary) Schroeder of Leipsic and Michelle (Steve) Stechschulte of Ottawa; 22 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister: Bernadette Burke of Columbus; and two sisters-in-law: Clara Schroeder of Kalida and Mary C. "Kate" Schroeder of Leipsic.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons: Nathan J. Schroeder and Ryan W. Schroeder; ten siblings: Cletus and Viola Schroeder, James "Jake" Schroeder, Guido and Anna Schroeder, Saturnius "Barney" and Mary Schroeder, Hyacinth "Jack" and Luella Schroeder, Geneva and Joe Snyder, Colletta and Harold Niese, Dennis J. Schroeder, Valen and Rose Schroeder and Justin "Jud" Schroeder; two brothers-in-law: George Burke and Lavern Geckle; and his father and mother-in-law: Lawrence and Velma Geckle.

Ronnie was a lifelong farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic. Ronnie cherished his family and friends and always had an open door for anyone.  He took pride in his grandchildren's accomplishments and enjoyed going to sporting events.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday and 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic as well as one hour prior to the mass Wednesday at St. Mary's Parish Life Center.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund, Putnam County Home Care and Hospice or Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program (CAP).
