Rose Mary Clementz
KALIDA – Rose Mary Clementz, 86, of Kalida, died at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Meadows of Kalida, surrounded by her family, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's. She was born February 13, 1926 in Kalida to the late Frank and Mary (Miller) Wehri. On August 7, 1948, she married Joseph V. Clementz. He died July 20, 1993.
Surviving are 7 children: Michael (Peggy Nienberg) Clementz of Ottawa, Thomas (Mary Ann) Clementz of Cloverdale, Ruth (Dale) Schroeder of Bowling Green, Karen (Ron) Steffan of Leipsic, William (Sue) Clementz of Kalida, Angela Clementz of Kalida and Kathleen (Ron) Schmiedebusch of Glandorf; 16 grandchildren: Jay Clementz, Ryan (Laura) Clementz, Steven (Lindsey) Clementz, Cory Clementz, Jeff (Kathleen) Schroeder Hale, Eric (Jenna) Schroeder, Timothy (Alyssa) Schroeder, Nicole (Kurt) Ruhe, Brad Steffan, Stephanie (Brendon) Tiell, Holly (Brent) Warnecke, Karri (Craig) Miller, Bethany (Austin) Barnhart, Kayla Schmiedebusch, Nathan Schmiedebusch, Amy Schmiedebusch; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Hubert (Joyce) Wehri of Kalida; 4 sisters: Lucille Schroeder of Glandorf, Agnes Ulm of Delphos, Rita Jean (Norbert) Boecker of Ottoville, Joan (Richard) Seimet of Ottawa; 2 sisters-in-law: Delores Wehri of Kalida and Velma Wehri of Delphos; 1 brother-in-law: Bob Kaple of Ottoville.
She was preceded in death also by 2 grandchildren: Christopher Clementz and Kimberly Clementz; 2 brothers: Gilbert and Cletus Wehri and 4 sisters: Margaret Clementz Dickman, Leona Youngpeter, Luella Wehri and Mary Ann Schimmoeller Kaple; 6 brothers-in-law: Rudy Schroeder, Eugene Clementz, Ferd Dickman, Bill Ulm, Gerald Youngpeter and Jim Schimmoeller. She was also preceded in death by her husband's siblings: Valeria (Joseph) Siefker, Louis (Clara and Lola) Clementz, Josephine (Herbert) Bockrath, Frank (Josephine) Clementz and Eugene (Margaret) Clementz.
Rose Mary was a gifted homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida where she was a sacristan and member of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. She sewed many beautiful quilts and also enjoyed embroidering. Baking bread, cookies and pies was one of her favorite pastimes. Rose Mary also enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida, with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Altar Rosary service at 7 p.m. Friday.
