LEIPSIC – Rose A. Schroeder, 88, of Leipsic died at 12:55 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born July 14, 1927 in New Cleveland to the late Louis and Lauretta (Lammers) Winkler. On August 8, 1951 she married Valen Schroeder who died July 26, 2001.
She is survived by nine children: Daniel (Nancy) Schroeder of Leipsic, Ruth Ann (Larry) Ranes of Lake Placid, FL, Roger (Deb) Schroeder of Bryan, Judy (Steve) Kleman of Miller City, Doris (Bob) Schroeder of Leipsic, Nick (Connie) Schroeder of Leipsic, Arlene (Curt) Burgener of Ft. Wayne, IN., Gary (Mary Ann) Schroeder of Bryan and Chris (Lauren) Schroeder of Leipsic; thirty-two grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; two sisters: Alvera Alt of Leipsic and Arlene Winkler, OSF, of Springfield, IL; and a sister-in-law: Reta Winkler of Leipsic. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Don Winkler; a sister: Hilda Hovest; and two brothers-in-law: Melvin Alt and Robert Hovest.
Rose was a homemaker and co-owner of Leipsic Hardware with her husband. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating and Fr. William Pifher and Seminarian Eric Burgener concelebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to the mass on Thursday at the church. There there will be a rosary service at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to St. Mary's Building on Generations of Service or to St. Mary's School.
