Roselyn "Rose" Fortman
VAN WERT - Roselyn "Rose" Fortman, 84, of Van Wert, died at 8:53 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert. She was born March 25, 1930 in Glandorf to the late Lawrence and Dorthea (Inkrott) Siefker. On August 27, 1949 she married Fred Fortman who survives in Van Wert. They just celebrated their 65th anniversary.
She is also survived by 8 children: John (Cathy) Fortman of Ottawa, Joe (Sherry) Fortman of Van Wert, Jeff (Nancy) Fortman of Columbus Grove, Fred (Cindy) Fortman, Jr. of Ottawa, Jerome (Holly) Fortman of Van Wert, Jay Fortman of Van Wert, Jack Fortman of Van Wert, and Jane (Jerry) Dickey of Ottawa; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one on-the-way; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Peter (Pat) Siefker of Columbus Grove, Donald (Alice) Siefker of Glandorf, and Ken (Irena) Siefker of Ottawa; and 2 sisters: Alice Gable of Hamler and Dorothy Wichman of Seattle, WA. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Amos, Norbert, John, and Alvin Siefker and a sister: Arline Snyder.
Rose was a former owner of Fortman Linen Service for 50 years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and the Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed bowling and loved being with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption School or to a charity of the donor's choice.
