ROY D. ABBOTT
LEIPSIC - Roy D. Abbott, 87, of Leipsic, died 4:35 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at The Meadows of Leipsic. He was born July 31, 1925 in Belmore, to the late Earl and Retha (Todd) Abbott. On April 3, 1948, he married JoAnn I. Zernhel and she survives in Leipsic.
Also surviving is a brother Wilbur Abbott of Leipsic and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Abbott and 3 sisters, Inez Bixler, Katherine Burbank and Erma Jean Niese.
Mr. Abbott was owner of John Deere Leipsic Farm Supply in Leipsic. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge, Battle of the Breakthrough in Hurtgen Forest in Western Germany. He was a member of St. Paul's United EUB in Deshler.
A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Kathie Tomazic officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler with military rites. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be given to Bridge Hospice or to the charity of the donor's choice.
