Ruth Gerdeman

KALIDA – Ruth Gerdeman, 85, of Kalida, passed away on at 9:16 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  She was born December 14, 1939, in Lima to the late Carl and Florentine (Warnecke) Klausing.  On September 12, 1964, she married Charles Gerdeman, he preceded her in death on September 24, 2001.

Ruth is survived by a son: Brian Gerdeman of Kalida; a daughter: Susan (Dan) Yoder of Glandorf; two grandchildren: Katelyn (Clayton Haug) Yoder of Indianapolis, IN., and Kaleb Yoder of Glandorf; three sisters: Thelma Brinkman of Delphos, Mary (Jerry) Hoffman of Kalida, and Alice Morman of Columbus Grove.

She is preceded in death by an infant brother, Bernard Klausing; and two brothers-in-law, Dave Brinkman and Joe Morman.

Ruth was an office manager for Nickles Bakery in Lima.  She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida, Catholic Ladies of Columbia and Altar Rosary Society.  Ruth was a 1957 graduate of Delphos St. John's High School.  She enjoyed luncheons with her classmates.  Ruth also enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sporting events.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Joseph Varghese officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, with a rosary service at 1:45 p.m.
