Ruth A. Selhorst Rieman
LEIPSIC – Ruth A. Selhorst Rieman, 87, of Leipsic passed to heaven surrounded by her loving family 11:52 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2023 at Mercy Health Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf. She was born April 9, 1936 in Liberty Township to the late Cyril and Anna (Heuerman) Rump. On April 27, 1955, she married William Selhorst. He died February 23, 1989. She then married Carl Rieman in February of 1991. He died August 6, 2011.
Survivors include five children: Gary (Joann) Selhorst of Ottawa, Roger (Karen) Selhorst of Findlay, Jenny (Dan) Liebrecht of Ottawa, Chuck (Kathy) Selhorst of Leipsic and Kyle (Sonya) Selhorst of Columbus Grove; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Ritzenthaler of Hilliard; eight step-children: Barb (Darwin) Grener of Cincinnati, Mike (Norma) Rieman of Ottawa, Margie (Carl) Brown of Leipsic, Kathy Steffan of Leipsic, Dennis (Barb) Rieman of Ottawa, Janice (Steve) Kaufman of Leipsic, Carol (Tim) Alt of Findlay and Dave (Jane) Rieman of Davis, IL; 23 grandchildren; 31 step-grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 49 step great-grandchildren and four on the way; 2 step great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Sharon) Rump of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law, Norma Riepenhoff of Leipsic.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Bruce Selhorst; a daughter-in-law, Carla Selhorst; step son-in-law, George Steffan; 2 granddaughters; a step-grandchild; 2 step great-grandchildren; and siblings: Virgil (Mary) Rump, Eileen (Len) Riepenhoff and Donald (Connie) Rump.
Ruthie had many jobs in her life including working for Deshler Products, The Styling Salon and volunteering at Putnam Acres Care Center. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland and Farm Club and enjoyed doing word puzzles, line dancing with The Golden Steppers and playing cards. She was a Detroit Tigers and IU East Red Wolves girls' basketball fan but loved any sport her children or grandchildren participated in, including cheerleading. Ruthie loved her family and friends dearly and enjoyed lots of laughs over the years.
Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Randy Giesige and Deacon Jim Rump. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, LEIPSIC with a scripture service at 7:50 p.m. and one hour prior to the mass Friday at the Parish Life Center.
Memorial donations may be given to the Live a Dream Program at The Meadows of Leipsic.
