RUTH SPENCER
CONTINENTAL - Ruth Spencer, 89, of Continental, died 4:01 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Hawthorn Inn Assisted Living in Greenville, SC.  She was born December 6, 1924 in Bridgeport, IN to the late Lloyd L. and Ruth (Mason) Locke.  On August 14, 1942, she married Kenneth R. Spencer.  He died April 8, 2003.
Survivors include three children: Robert R. (Beverly) Spencer of Portland, OR, Sharon (Terry) Hicks of Greenville SC, and Kristy (Kenneth) Stone of Douglasville, GA; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; and a sister; Joyce Bakemier of Indianapolis, IN.
She was preceded in death by a son: Timothy A. Spencer; and two brothers: Gerald L. Locke and John Robert Locke.
Ruth was a cook at Continental Schools and a homemaker.  She was a member of the North Mt.  Zion Church, Continental.
Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the North Mount Zion Church, Continental with Rev. Brent Gibson officiating.  Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental.  Visitation will be  from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
