Sandra JoEllen Kinder
CONTINENTAL – Sandra JoEllen Kinder, 70, of Continental died at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born June 20, 1941 in Evansport, OH to the late Clarence and Helen (Younghouse) Cereghin. She and her 3 sisters were raised by their father. On September 30, 1961 she married James Arnold Kinder. He died October 11, 1987.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Kristine Kay Kinder and Kelly Jo Kinder both of Huntsville, AL; 2 granddaughters: Tayvin Kristine (Ian) Puckett and Danielle Nicole Kinder; 2 great-grandchildren: Brackston Bailey Puckett and Anniston Kinder Puckett; and a sister: June (Don) Miller of Defiance. Also preceding her in death was an infant son: David Todd Kinder and 2 sisters: Beverly Brown and Shirley Buehrer.
Sandy retired from H & K Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Buick in Continental after 20 years. She formerly worked at Northwest Telephone Company starting as a long distance operator, promoted to supervisor, group chief operator and traffic manager. She also worked at Karl's Drive Inn and Elder Beerman in Defiance. Sandra attended Stryker High School. She was a member of Free Christian Church in Continental where she was very active and on the Board of Disciple House. She was a member of Harc Ministry (healing addictions through Christ), which she enjoyed very much. She also did preaching and teaching of life skills at CCNO and helped with bible studies at Potter's Hands.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at Free Christian Church, Continental with Rev. James Fry officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to service at church.
