Sandra M. Newsome

OTTAWA – Sandra M. Newsome, 74, of Ottawa died 9:25 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born August 20, 1951 in Barberton, Ohio to the late William and Bessie (Davis) Petit. On October 20, 1979, she married Gary Newsome. He died January 17, 1999.

Survivors include two sons: Jason Newsome of Ocala, FL and Justin (Kayla) Newsome of Belleview, FL; and three siblings: Randall (Betty Lawrence) Petit of Celina, Cindy Remaklus-Hicks of Alvo, NE, and Linda Hart of Columbus Grove.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three siblings: Ronald Petit, Gary Petit and Russ Petit.

Sandra was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Ottawa. She enjoyed sewing, adult coloring books, painting, playing Bingo and loved owls.

Local visitation for Sandra will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2026 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

Florida graveside service will begin 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026 in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Ocala, FL. Graveside arrangements are under the direction of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, Ocala, FL. 

Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice.
