Shirley Ann De La Cruz

HOUSTON, TEXAS – Shirley Ann De La Cruz, 86, of Houston, Texas, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore.  She was born March 18, 1938, in Putnam County to the late Albert and Cecilia (Swary) Klausing.

Shirley is survived by two children:  Victoria (David Dunlap) De La Cruz of Sante Fe, New Mexico, and Anthony De La Cruz of Columbus; a grandson:  Morgan Dunlap-De La Cruz; great-grandchildren:  Corbin Toepfer and Kwynn Toepfer; brother: Corky Klausing; and two sisters: Mary (Dick) Croy, and Joan Doepker.

She is preceded in death by a grandson, Matt De La Cruz; and a brother-in-law, Tom Doepker.

Shirley retired from Marathon Oil.  She lived in Houston, Texas most of her life and loved it completely.  Shirley was a very joyous person and loved her catholic faith.  She loved spending time with and taking care of children and she enjoyed taking care of gardens, especially at her apartment.

Funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Deacon Ben Valdez officiating. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
