Shirley M. Swickrath COLUMBUS GROVE – Shirley M. Swickrath, native of Columbus Grove, Ohio passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025, at her home with her loving husband by her side. She was born August 13, 1957, in Columbus Grove, Ohio. She was the only daughter of the late Reinold "Speck" and Frances Erline "Ginny" (Eversole) Nuveman.  She was raised Catholic, along with her brothers, Joe and Donald. On September 22, 1995, she married John Swickrath, for whom she had lived with prior for six years. Shirley is survived by her brother, Donald Nuveman of Columbus Grove. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Carl "Joe" Nuveman. Shirley had many jobs over the years, but it was the job she started in 1992 as a dairy herd supervisor that she liked the most. She often said that after she got the hang of it, that it was more like visiting a friend than a job. After retiring in 2023, it left her more time to devote to her garden and plants. Shirley had a passion for gardening and tending to her houseplants. At one point, she had over one hundred of them. She had cut back on them over the years, but there were still plenty she cared for. Shirley was known for her quick wit and infectious laugh, along with her compassionate and kind spirit. She was a loving wife, sibling and friend, with a beautiful soul that would help anyone in need. Shirley truly knew that it was better to give than to receive, and her generosity knew no boundaries. Her radiant smile and hearty laugh would always light up any room. Shirley loved the outdoors. Taking drives in her convertible and tending to her garden made her happy. Above all, Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends and her beloved dogs, Cooper and Action Jaxson.  Although Shirley is gone, she will live in our hearts forever.
