Stanley G. Skiver

CONTINENTAL - Stanley G. Skiver, 64, of Continental, arrived at his heavenly home 9:00 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 at his residence after bravely battling cancer the past five years. He was born August 23, 1953 in Midland, MI to Randal and Delores (Brand) Skiver who survives in Ayersville. On June 3, 1972 he married Sandra "Sandi" Weisenburger who survives in Continental.

Stan's greatest legacy is his grandchildren whom he loved spending time with and who he taught many things, especially how to be brave and strong. Stan loved God, his country, John Wayne, and especially his family. He was well known around the country-side for his BBQ sauce and smoked meats.

He is also survived by three children, Melissa (Chris) Stiltner of Ayersville, Matthew (Chelsey) Skiver of Defiance, and April (Eric) Bidlack of Continental; nine grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Stiltner, Madeline, Kagan, Hanna, Carraig, and Gunnar Skiver, Adam and Ella Bidlack; three step-grandchildren, Kaeley Ryan, Dalton and Rylee Morris; four brothers, Steve (Marijo) Skiver of Kokomo, IN, Allan (Kathy) Skiver of Ayersville, Jerry Skiver of Ayersville, and Tony (Dawn) Skiver of Defiance; and two sisters, Jan (Bob) Kubica of Defiance and Bev (Dean) Siefker of Ottawa.

Stan was a set-up machinist for GT Technologies in Defiance for almost 35 years. He was a member Continental United Methodist Church and the Leipsic Fish and Game Club.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at Continental United Methodist Church with Pastor Chuck Schmunk officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Putnam County Hospice or to Continental United Methodist Church.
