Obituary

Stanley P. Winkle

KALIDA – Stanley "Stan" P. Winkle, 67, of Kalida passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at 7 p.m. on August 13, 2021. Stan was born March 3, 1954 to the late Robert "Bob" and Cleora (Stoepfel) Winkle. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janet M. (Reindel) Winkle.

Stan was devoted to his family and was extremely proud of his daughter Dawn (Terry) Steele of Hilliard and his son Robb (Lisa) Winkle of Upper Arlington. He loved spending time with his "little buddies" and "sweethearts" and showing his 5 grandchildren, Brendan Steele, Adele, Henry, Claire and Oliver Winkle, all the fun and excitement life had to offer.

He is also survived by six siblings, Rebecca (Charles) Bockrath, Roger (Vicki) Winkle, Annette (Bill) Unverferth, Karen (Ken) Erhart, Dale (Patty) Winkle, and Scott (Tricia) Winkle all of Kalida; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends.

Stan loved music, hunting, fishing, and helping people. He began playing guitar at a young age and started his first band in junior high with his brother and friends. He later played as a member of the Dynamiks with lifelong friends, and then joined the Country Gentleman to spend time playing guitar with his father. Stan was a true outdoorsman. He loved being outside, sitting in his tree stands, and teaching youth the art of hunting. He also loved fishing, being at fish camp with the Barney Boys, and scheduling his "crew" for each outing. Stan had the chance to share his love of fishing with many friends and family, and helped each of his grandkids catch their first fish.

Above all, Stan was known for always being there and helping people. Out of high school he became a member of the Kalida Fire Department and went on to serve in many leadership roles during his 17 Years of service. He also served as a member of the Kalida EMS for 21 Years, and member of Kalida K of C. He was always volunteering to plow driveways, help with home projects and being there for anyone in need. He knew he would be repaid on God's time. Stan ran his auto repair business for over 40 years delivering quality work at a fair price. He was known by his employees and customers as an all around good guy. He had a fun loving positive attitude and was the glue of the family by making sure life for everyone around him was "Just Right."

Stan was a steady presence of help, support, laughter, and joy for his many family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
