Susan Lois Zimmerlee

FORT JENNINGS – Susan L. Zimmerlee, 73, of Fort Jennings, passed away at 10:07 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Lima Memorial Health System.  She was born April 15, 1949 in Winchester to the late Joseph and Janice (Barrett) Johnson.  She married Steve Zimmerlee.  Though they divorced, they remained close friends over the years.

Susan is survived by a daughter: Jennifer (Michael) Burgei of Ottoville; two grandchildren: William Burgei and Victoria Burgei; a brother: Larry Johnson; and two sisters: Anne (Kent) Thornburg, and Lynne (Jim) Davis.

Susan worked as a surgical R.N. and retired from the V.A. Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. She graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1970.  Susan was very creative and loved crafting.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings and enjoyed being active in the church she attended.

Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings with Father Charles Obinwa officiating.  Burial will take place in Saratoga Cemetery, Saratoga, IN., at a later date.  A visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 2 to 5 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
