Susan Kay Davis

Defiance - Susan Kay Davis, 62, completed her earthly journey and went to her heavenly home on July 29, 2016 at 10:31 p.m. at the James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.  She is now at peace with her Heavenly Father.  Her firm belief in God supported her and gave her peace during her journey.  Susan never knew a stranger.  Her smile and friendliness was a trait known to many.  Susan lived by the motto:  A stranger is a friend you haven't met yet.  This translated into numerous friendships throughout her 62 years.

Susan was born on January 18, 1954 in Defiance to Charles R. "Bob" and Marilyn (McCullough) Young.  Her father is deceased and mother survives in Ft. Myers, FL.   On October 15, 1988, she married Joey Michael Davis who died September 21, 2002.

She is survived by two children: Jamison Craig (Sara) Young of Denver, Colorado and Christopher Lee Davis of Defiance; three grandchildren: Ashley Davis, Emma and Taylor Young; a sister: Denise Lynn (Greg) Scherer of Continental.  Preceding her in death is a brother: Gary Young and a niece: Amy Young Stepke..

Susan was a loving, wonderful babysitter and caregiver.  She is retired from Twin Rivers Center in Defiance.  She is a member of Dupont Church of the Brethren and also attended Freedom Church.

A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Dupont Church of the Brethren, Dupont, with Pastor Brad Colley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be given to Freedom Church, American Cancer Society or donor's choice.
