Obituary

TERESA P. PANNING
Ottawa -- Teresa Panning, 80, went home to her Creator 12:09 a.m. Tuesday, November 11th, 2014.  She was born March 31, 1934 in Hamler to the late Philip and Rose (Dibling) Cavanaugh. She was married to Harold Smith for a short time, and on June 30, 1973 she married Henry C. Panning, who preceded her in death on January 22, 1998.
Teresa leaves behind to cherish her memory 4 children: Dennis E. Smith of Hamler, Jean R. (Raymond) Ford of Kent, James J. (Sharon) Smith of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Kimberly A. Panning (Curtis Newell) of Lima; 3 grandchildren: Kristine (Jamerson) Waltz of Adrian, MI, Amanda (Darrin) Holland of Lima, Jeremiah Davis of Detroit, MI and step-grandson Tyler Smart-Newell of Lima; 4 great-grandchildren; Tenly Waltz, Tylan Waltz, Sierra Sturgill, and Jared Burke; 2 brothers: Robert Cavanaugh of Deshler, and Patrick Cavanaugh of Ottawa; 2 sisters: Madonna Alt of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Margret Sheets of Defiance; 4 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law: Audrey Cavanaugh, Janet Cavanaugh, Arleta Panning, and Marie and Albert Junge; a bunch of nieces and nephews; and 2 godchildren: Yvonne Sheets and Thomas Cavanaugh.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband; husband; her great-granddaughter: Zoey Holland; 2 brothers: Anthony Cavanaugh and Philip Michael Cavanaugh; 1 sister: Veronica Foos; 4 brothers-in-law: and 1 sister-in-law.
Teresa retired from Metal Forge in Deshler in the 70's, where she was also a homemaker and babysitter for many. She loved to play the organ and carve woodwork. She was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, where she was a member of the Rosary Alter Society, Ministers of Praise, and the Prayer Chain. She was also a life member of Ottawa VFW post 9142 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion post 63 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Matt Jozefiak officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where an American Legion Auxiliary service will be 7 pm, a VFW Auxiliary service will be at 7:15 p.m. and a rosary service will be at 7:50 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Church or to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.
