Thelma Grote

Ft. Jennings -- Thelma Grote, 95, of Ft. Jennings, died 5:03 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born February 2, 1921 in Ft. Jennings to the late Harry and Cecelia (Gable) Bracker. On May 31, 1938 she married Melvin Grote who died July 26, 1994.

She is survived by two children: Judy (Robert) Brinkman of Cloverdale, Jim Grote of Cloverdale; a daughter-in-law: Marilyn Grote of Cloverdale; three grandchildren: Linda (Stewart) Mills of Scott, Lisa (Brian) Barnett of Grove City, Craig (Angie) Brinkman of Ottoville; 5 great-grandchildren: Kyle and Cory Barnett, Leah, Adam, and Isaac Brinkman.

She was preceded in death by a son: Ron Grote; two sisters: Mary Schuerman, Dorothy Knott; and a brother: Ralph Bracker.

Thelma was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was a homemaker, enjoyed playing bingo, scratch off lottery tickets, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings with Fr. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township as well as an hour prior to mass at the church.
