Theresa M. Becker

CLOVERDALE - Theresa M. Becker, 96, of Cloverdale died 4:04 a.m. Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Meadows of Kalida. She was born December 14, 1925 to the late Edward and Tharsilla (Frederick) Turnwald. On August 28, 1946 she married Norman H. Becker who preceded her in death June 2, 2009.

Survivors include five children: Ron (Maxine) Becker of Cloverdale, Jane Plescher of Ottoville, Jim (Marilyn) Becker of Kalida, Nancy Sadler of Whispering Pines, NC and Mary (Dan) Vorst of Cloverdale; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and two brothers: Art (Joan) Turnwald of Ottoville and Don Turnwald of Kalida.

She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Plescher; three brothers: Gerald (Frances) Turnwald, Gilbert "Gip" (Bernadine) Turnwald and Paul "Duke" (Martha) Turnwald; two sisters: Ruth Ann Turnwald and Mary (Leo) Moeggenborg; and a sister-in-law, Martha Turnwald.

Theresa was a homemaker, cake decorator and poultry farmer.  She was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church, Cloverdale and its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was also a 4-H advisor and volunteered at the former Paradise Oaks Nursing Home in Cloverdale. Theresa made masks during the pandemic, along with prayer scarves and healing rice bags. She loved to make ceramics and Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will begin 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church, Cloverdale with Fr. Jerome Schetter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2021 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township with a rosary service at 7:45 p.m.  There will also be visitation one hour prior to mass on Tuesday at the church.
